Axis 2017 Presidents

Brigid Alkema

Executive Creative Director - Clemenger BBDO Wellington

Brigid first got her foot in the door at Clemenger BBDO Wellington in 2000. She gained valuable experience in Sydney, first at DDB and then at Clemenger, before returning to her beloved hometown and workplace. After consistently being ranked as one of Australasia’s top creatives, she became Clemenger BBDO’s Creative Director in 2011 and its Executive Creative Director in 2015.

Brigid loves leading a team that are passionate about connecting with Kiwis and making stuff that matters and contributes to culture. Pushing the boundaries of what many thought possible for social marketing, her and her team have generated some of the country’s most memorable and effective campaigns. Their success in this field is best exemplified by the work ‘Blazed’, ‘Mistakes’, ‘Tinnyvision’ and ‘Ghost Chips’. Brigid has been a jury member at D&AD, One Show, NY Festival, Spikes, AWARD and Axis and has been highly awarded at every major award show.

Shane Bradnick

Executive Creative Director - DDB

Shan started his career in 1998 in South Africa as an art director at DDB. In 2001 he moved to Australia to join M&C Saatchi Sydney, and then Australian Agency of the Decade, BMF Sydney. In 2013 Shane became the ECD of DDB New Zealand where he now lives with his very patient wife and less patient two sons. Shane has won more than 100 awards in that time, including Axis Creative Agency of the Year, Cannes and One Show golds, D&AD yellow, graphite and wood pencils, Spikes Asia Grand Prix, Best in Show at the Mashies and Effies awards.

He’s also been lucky enough to judge at quite a few shows including Cannes, The London Internationals, AWARD, New Zealand Axis Awards and ADMA. Shane looks forward to serving as President of a Jury for Axis 2017.

Tony Clewett

Executive Creative Director - FCB

With over 20 years’ experience in the advertising game, both at home in New Zealand, and the UK, Tony reckons he’s seen massive shifts in the way it’s being played over that time. Mostly for the better. He’s had the privilege of concepting a restaurant 20 metres up a tree for a client (the Lion winning Yellow Treehouse Restaurant campaign), then actually getting to eat a three course dinner up there. And the thrill of standing 3 metres away from a dog actually driving a car for the first time in the world (the Lion winning MINI/SPCA Driving Dogs campaign), or selling electronic headphones totally submerged in a bottle of water (the Lion winning SONY Bottled Walkman campaign).

Today, sitting back in the FCB Auckland office as ECD, he’s helping create and guide work that just a few years ago he, along with entire industry, would have laughed out of the office – and straight off to the funny-farm. Yes. Lots has changed. But he wouldn’t have it any other way…

Christy Peacock

Executive Creative Director - TBWA Auckland

Christy is Executive Creative Director at TBWA\ here in New Zealand. Before that he was Executive Creative Director at Joy, an agency he was instrumental in re-inventing. He named it, helped to develop its unique IP resulting in it now being one of Australia’s largest independent agencies. Joy was also awarded Epica’s Independent Agency of the year in 2015.

During his career Christy has been Head of Art/Creative Director at Fallon North America. Creative Director at PublicisMojo Melbourne and also Creative Director at DDB Melbourne.

He has also worked at many of the world’s leading agencies including; M&C Saatchi, Euro RSCG, Bates Worldwide, Mojo Sydney, BMP DDB Needham London and Mother UK to name just a few.

Working both internationally and locally at an entrepreneurial level has given Christy the unique perspective he has on the industry today. Along the way Christy has been the recipient of all the major award shows globally.
